about

The $2 A DAY non-profit organisation was founded in 2017 by a group of students at Dulwich College Shanghai to raise awareness of poverty and hunger, as well as fight against both.  They were initially inspired by the Two Dollars A Day Challenge, a challenge where participants try to survive off $2 per day, for a certain amount of days (see "The Challenge" tab above to learn more).  The students thought the challenge would be easy to complete, but with such a pitiful sum, they barely survived 5 days each.  Their experiences made them develop empathy for those who live under the absolute poverty line as well as to fight against it.

The $2 A DAY team fundraises primarily through school events.  With these funds, we sponsor families in rural China and provide them with "food packages", which consist of food and sanitation.  $2 A DAY raises awareness by giving seminars to companies and schools in Shanghai.
